MTV to honor Paul Walker during the MTV Awards

MTV announced plans to honor the late Paul Walker at the annual MTV Movie Awards, being held on Sunday, April 13.
His Fast & Furious costar Jordana Brewster will take the stage to talk about her late colleague and to introduce a video memorializing his iconic on-stage career.
MTV president Stephen Friedman said the tribute was fitting considering not only the 40-year-old’s celebrated on-screen career, but also his character and philanthropy off-screen.

“Paul Walker was a role model for the MTV audience since the very beginning of his too-short career. Our audience grew up with him, from Varsity Blues to the Furious franchise,” he told the L.A. Times. “He was a movie star but one that they could relate to.”
“Paul’s humanity and kindness clearly showed through every role. We’re honored to be able to spend a moment of this year’s Movie Awards to celebrate him.”

The late star won his first and only “Golden Popcorn” statue in 2002, when he and his close friend and costar Vin Diesel took home the prize for “Best On-Screen Duo”—an honor they’re nominated for again this year.
To see the touching tribute, tune into the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, April 13 on MTV.
